easy & relaxed

If you would like an easy, simple, unique, relaxed wedding ceremony, a small wedding or elopement is so much easier to plan than a traditional wedding, with as little logistics as organising a fun weekend away, and you go home married!

Arranging the legal paperwork is not complicated and I will happily advise you and talk you through it step by step. (see legalities section on the ‘how’ page)

stunning scenery

Scotland’s most stunning scenery

If you choose a small wedding in Scotland, then you have far more scope as to where you can have your wedding ceremony than if you have lots of guests.

You can choose a stunningly breathtaking location, without the worry and logistics of how to get everyone there, and you won’t need chairs or a table, just somewhere ‘safe and dignified’, which are the legal requirements.

If you decide to totally ‘go it alone’ and have no guests, the photographers can be your witnesses or as your celebrant, I can advise and help find you someone willing to help!

freedom to choose

With an elopement wedding, you can enjoy one of the happiest days of your life, with no distractions, no big audience, no stage fright, focusing exclusively on what really matters; you as a couple, your commitment to each other and sharing your private vows and promises ….. instead of worrying about all of your guests and whether the table decorations are perfect!

You won’t be ‘on show’, so your wedding is less of a performance and more of a meaningful ceremony. You can do away with social obligations and as a couple, entirely make your own decisions as to which conventions and traditions you may or may not want to include.

freedom to choose
private & intimate

private & intimate

You can choose to keep your wedding a total secret, which can actually make it exciting and fun, or you can tell a selected few close friends/family (but be warned not everyone can keep a secret!) Or you can just tell everyone you are going to get married in an elopement ceremony!

It’s your choice and you don’t need to feel pressure from anyone.

The main thing is you are sure you are doing the right thing for you, then you can relax into your special day, knowing it will be exactly the way you want it to be, without having to factor in a zillion outside influences!

You can always arrange a party when you return, to celebrate with family and friends, which can appease any objections, and where you can show your wedding day photos/video, wear your wedding outfits again and have a cake to cut.

cost

With the money you save by not choosing a big wedding, you can treat yourselves to the luxuries that you will remember forever.
You choose how much or little you want to spend, which means you don’t have to use up all your savings, or go into debt.

Your only essential expenses are the marriage license fees and your celebrant’s fee.

But your accommodation, photographer, outfits, rings, flowers, food and drink can be as extravagant or modest as you choose, according to your budget.

what couples say

“We originally booked a huge wedding day, with hundreds of guests, then we got to the seating plan. This was the most stressful experience of our lives! So we made to decision to forget this time- consuming task and elope to Scotland! Scotland has always been our happy place so it made perfect sense. Once we found our celebrant Annie, everything fell into place. To say the day was a dream come true would be an understatement. Annie made it such a stress-free relaxing, perfect day for us, and most of all we remember every little detail about it, which we don’t think would be the case if we had had a huge, busy day. It was so private which made every detail all the more special. Not to mention an hour after we were married we were on the beach in our wellies with our dog/best man. We would recommend Annie and eloping to any couple!”

Andrew & Dominic

“My husband and I eloped during lockdown in April 2021. We’d talked about having a big wedding, but it just wasn’t something we wanted, as neither of us like being the center of attention, and the thought of walking down the aisle with everyone staring at me always filled me with fear, which I didn’t want to feel on my wedding day! So we decided to elope, planning everything with Annie our celebrant, in a little over a month. Apart from our parents, we didn’t tell anyone what we were doing. There was something so exciting and so romantic about it – the thought of running away to get married. We didn’t need to follow tradition, or meet people’s expectations, or have a big flashy wedding. We were just two people in love who wanted to commit to each other forever. All we needed was each other, and it was the best day of our lives. If we could do it all over again, we wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you Annie!”

Nicola & Alan

“We choose Scotland to get married as we were planning to holiday there, in a little remote cottage where we had stayed before. We thought it would be a fabulous location for a very private and intimate wedding without being watched on ‘Our Day’ by a number of people. Annie guided us through everything and helped us have the day of our dreams. And we had a great party when we got back to celebrate with friends and family. We couldn’t have chosen better!”

Poppy & Andy

“We just wanted a simple, beautiful, ‘get-away-from-it-all’, no fuss no frills but meaningful wedding, with two friends as witnesses, which our celebrant Annie helped us achieve! We had some wonderful fiddle music from the talented Archie McAllister, and a day to look back on with joy. We are SO glad we chose this.”

“Love is the only thing you get more of by giving it away.”
